Southern California Foster Family and Adoption Agency provides a comprehensive 24 hour pre-certification training program for all adults seeking to become foster and/or adoptive parents. Training is given alternately on seven consecutive Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and on four consecutive Saturdays.  The first Saturday session is from 9:00 a.m. - noon.  The following three Saturdays are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Following each pre-certification training series, a First Aid and CPR class is offered on site at a cost of $40 per person.

After certification, 15 hours of continuing education are required each year in order for parents to be re-certified.  SCFFAA provides Family Enrichment Days six to eight times a year, at which time parents are provided with continuing education.  It is through the education gained at these trainings, along with the friendships created with other parents, that foster and adoptive parents expand their insight and understanding for the care of the children.

In addition to opportunities to meet and talk with other parents, agency support includes one-on-one assistance from Foster Care Social Workers and Adoption Social Workers.  A Foster Care Social Worker is assigned to each family and meets with them on a regular basis.  The Adoption Social Worker conducts the home study and assists adoptive parents with building their families.
